Passion
Bowfishing has been my passion since a good friend brought over a bowfishing DVD back in 2007 -- I must have watched it a dozen times. From there I stripped down my hunting bow, slapped on an AMS Retriever, and hit the water. Ever since that day, I've been 100% dedicated to this sport. I enjoy shooting in tournaments, helping out with great outdoor groups like Fallen Outdoors, and getting new folks out on the water.
I started this business out of that same passion, and I'm thrilled about how much more time it gives me to chat with folks about the sport, build arrows, test new gear, and sell products I actually believe in.
Preservation
Preservation matters now more than ever -- bowfishing has exploded in popularity in recent years, putting new eyes on the sport every season. It's on all of us to keep professional conduct on the water, hold each other accountable, and leave the ramp better than we found it. Stay informed on potential legislation in your state; laws restricting bowfishing have passed before simply because no one showed up to oppose them. Join a local club or association and help protect this sport for the next generation.
Youth
I can't stress enough how important it is to grow youth participation. Young shooters are the future of this sport, and getting them out on the water is the best way to keep it alive. Teach them proper fish disposal and professional conduct early. Plenty of bowfishing clubs run youth day shoots aimed at getting kids on the water regardless of experience or access to equipment. The Bowfishing Shop is proud to take part in a local youth event on the East Coast that keeps growing bigger every year!
